The journey of life towards God’s promise is full of difficult moments where quitting seems easier than moving ahead. But as children of God, we are called to rise above fear, challenges, and uncertainty. There is a supernatural force that keeps us pressing on. He is working behind the scene to ensure that we attain the final mark. That purposeful future He has set for us right from the start.
Determination is a blend of resilience and faith in motion. The Bible shows us that before God brings us into fulfillment, He prepares us to be ready. Let’s dive into the scripture. We will study some notable example of people who, through faith and determination, attained heights that were impossible with men.
- The four Lepers “We can’t stay here!”
In those days, lepers were ostracized from dwelling among men. They faced severe social stigma and discrimination, and as such, it was a taboo to be seen among men. The bible recorded that there was famine in the land. These four lepers sitting at the gate were not exempted. They were stuck in a dead-end situation until a realization hit them:
“Why should we sit here waiting to die?” — 2 Kings 7:3 NLT
Holy dissatisfaction is that moment when you know mediocrity is no longer acceptable. You understand that where you are is not where God wants you to remain.
At this stage:
- You become restless in stagnation.
- You refuse defeat as your destiny.
- You awaken to the possibility of change.
This is God stirring something new within you. The lepers figured out that doing nothing guarantees death, but taking a risk might lead to life. So they moved. And guess what? when the lepers moved, God amplified their steps, and the enemy fled! Their decision brought national deliverance. The bible recorded that they had surplus of food on that fateful day, just because of that singular decision.
Determination demands action even when outcomes are uncertain. Faith steps into the unknown because God is already there waiting.
This is where many people fail, they see the promise but fear the process. But God rewards movement.
- Queen Esther’s Bold Resolve
There is a point in a man’s life where retreat is eliminated as an option. It is full surrender to God’s will. In those days, Queens are not allowed to approach the king except they are called. Queen Esther knew this but risked her life for her nation:
“If I must die, I must die.” — Esther 4:16 NLT
This is determination that:
- Shuts the door on fear
- Trusts God more than circumstances
- Chooses obedience no matter the cost
You don’t win great victories with small faith. That act served her and her people from dead.
- The three Hebrew brothers
Determination will be tested. Challenges, opposition, and delay come to check if your faith has roots. But funny enough, many people in our generation today cannot stand challenges or delay. They are after the get-it-now scheme, no wonder they keep getting into vices that dent the image of the society.
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego refused to bow under pressure, even when threatened with fire, which means death. They profess their strong belief for the one true God:
“…the God whom we serve is able to save us… But even if He doesn’t….” — Daniel 3:17–18 NLT
They proved their loyalty to God, not afraid to die. You no longer serve Him for what He gives but for who He is. Here, your faith becomes fireproof.
Final Encouragement
I was led to write about this very topic. I belief is for someone out there. I pray this message gives you the needed boost to your faith in God. Wherever you are in your journey, keep going. God is working through every step. Determination is your seed and breakthrough is your harvest. When you move in faith, heaven moves with you.
You may feel limited like the lepers, threatened like Esther, or under fire like the three Hebrew boys…
But the God who brought them through will also bring you into victory. I want to encourage you to proceed with that project. Even though it doesn’t seem like you can pull it through, go ahead with it. And you will come back with a testimony.
Prayer
Lord, strengthen my faith. Give me courage to move, grace to endure, and faith to finish strong. I press forward and I will see the promise You have prepared for me, In Jesus’ name, Amen.
