When the Time Is Right

In the scripture in Genesis 21:1-2, we saw the manifestation of God’s promise to Abraham. A man who feared and obeyed God. “Now the Lord was gracious to Sarah as he had said, and the Lord did for Sarah what he had promised. Sarah became pregnant and bore a son to Abraham in his old age, at the very time God had promised him.” It is never too late with God. I experienced delay in securing a job after graduation. However, when the job finally came, it elevated me to heights beyond my imagination. I believe that God will elevate you today.

Introduction

Life often feels like a waiting room. We pray, we plan, we sow seeds of effort yet the harvest doesn’t come as quickly as we expect. Delays can be discouraging, but Scripture reminds us that God is never late. He operates on a timetable far wiser than ours. Isaiah 60:22 assures us: “At the right time I, the Lord, will make it happen.”

Today, let’s explore what it means to trust God’s perfect timing and how we can stay faithful while we wait.

1. God’s Timing Is Perfect

Our heavenly Father sees the beginning and the end all at once. What feels like “too long” to us is often preparation in His eyes. Consider Joseph in Genesis: sold into slavery, falsely accused, and forgotten in prison. Yet when the appointed time came, God raised him to a position of influence to save nations from famine.

Delays aren’t denials; they are divine setups. The Lord uses seasons of waiting to shape our character, strengthen our faith, and align circumstances so that His glory is revealed.

2. Waiting Builds Trust and Maturity

Think about a seed hidden in soil. It doesn’t sprout overnight; it develops unseen roots first. Likewise, God nurtures spiritual roots in us before visible fruit appears. Waiting seasons teach us endurance, humility, and dependence on His Word.

3. Move in Step With God, Not Ahead of Him

Abraham and Sarah’s story warns us about rushing God’s promises. Impatient for the son God had promised, they acted on their own plan and gave birth to Ishmael. Creating unnecessary pain.

When we try to force outcomes outside God’s timing, we often settle for less than His best. Trust means surrendering control and letting Him lead, even when the road seems slow or unclear.

4. God’s Appointed Time Brings Acceleration

When God’s moment arrives, events can unfold swiftly. After years of obscurity, David went from shepherd to king almost overnight once God’s timing was fulfilled.

The same God still works suddenly on behalf of His children. A closed door can open in a heartbeat. A long-standing prayer can be answered in a single encounter. What once seemed impossible becomes inevitable when the Father says, “Now.”

Conclusion

Friend, if you are in a season of waiting, remember this: God is faithful. His timing is not a punishment but a promise that He is working all things for your good (Romans 8:28).

Hold fast to His Word, keep your heart pure, and continue to serve where you are planted. Like a skilled gardener, the Lord knows exactly when to bring forth the fruit of your labor.

At the right time, He will make it happen.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You that Your plans for me are good and that Your timing is always perfect. Help me trust You when I cannot see the whole picture. Strengthen my faith as I wait and prepare my heart for the doors You will open. I believe that at the right time, You will bring Your promises to pass. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
